Harsimrat Badal was born 25 July 1966. She is the Union Cabinet Minister of Food Processing in the Government of India and member of parliament from Bathinda. She is a member of Shiromani Akali Dal.Her husband Shri Sukhbir Singh Badal is the deputy chief minister of Punjab and the president of Shiromani Akali Dal(SAD).

She is a matriculate and holds a diploma in textile design.She got married to Shri Sukhbir Singh Badal on 21st November 1991, The couple have 2 daughters and a son. Her brother Bikram Singh Majithia is a Akali MLA and a minister in the Punjab state government led by her father-in-law Prakash Singh Badal.
Harsimrat Badal is born into a family that traces its roots to Attar Singh Majithia, a prominent general in Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s army. Harsimrat Kaur Badal completed her schooling from Loreto convent school, Delhi. Harsimrat later entered into the field of textile designing and pursued a three-year course in textile design.
Her initiative of The Nanhi Chhaan Foundation (‘Nanhi’ is how little girls are endearingly referred to and ‘Chhaan’ is shade/protection) is a not-for-profit organization set up with the objective of addressing three important issues on the social agenda of the country namely, the adverse gender ratio (and women’s empowerment), preservation of trees (and environment protection) and lack of Inter Faith harmony (promote secularism and saving humanity).
