Hotel Business and College Exposure
Robert spent his early childhood years primarily at two places: the old and new campuses of Sullivan County Community College in South Fallsburg and Loch Sheldrake, New York, where his father was a math professor; and in the hotel business, where his parents were co-owners and operators of the Flagler Hotel and Schenk’s Hotel in South Fallsburg, New York. Robert sang and performed in the evening on the hotel nightclub stage with the late Joe Regelson, followed by the late Murray Waxman, Masters of Ceremonies, and also sang and performed with many singing on stage performance acts which played the hotel nightclub and lounges.
Robert studied singing technique, cabaret, and stage presence with Las Vegas nightclub cabaret singer Johnny King, who later performed on the hotel nightclub stage circuit. Robert later studied with Mario, an opera singer who studied with Maria Callas at Julliard.

Robert served as a political volunteer on the staff of many prominent politicians, performing a variety of roles. Politicians Robert campaigned for were: the late President Ronald Reagan’s successful presidential reelection campaign in 1984; President George H.W. Bush in his successful campaign for President in 1988;
Senator Bob Dole’s campaign for president, who won the presidential primary-but not the general election-in 1996; New York State Senator George Pataki’s successful gubernatorial campaign in 1994, when he unseated the late Governor Mario Cuomo; attorney Rudolph Giuliani’s successful mayoral election campaign in New York City in 1993; and billionaire businessman Abe Hirschfeld’s campaign for Manhattan Borough President in 1997, who won the Republican primary but lost the general election.
Robert served as a UNICEF volunteer and telephone fundraiser at the United Nations gift shop, central offices, and other locations in Manhattan for over a decade.
More recently, Robert stepped back into politics, leading the team as in the successful campaign of newcomer Nadia Berry for the Dearborn Heights Michigan School Board in November 2016, achieving the highest percentage margin of victory by a Democratic female newcomer over a Republican male incumbent in the United States, winning in every acknowledged voter category, working, homemakers, students, retired, absentee ballots, age, ethnicity, handicap, sex, religions. It proved an election on the issues could be won by regardless of the outcome of the Donald Trump versus Hillary Clinton presidential campaign which dominated the media, and the approach worked.
Robert wrote stories for monthly boxing magazines in the 1970’s, and appeared frequently on at ringside at boxing cards held at the Concord Hotel in Kiamesha Lake, New York, featured on CBS television, hosted by Tim Ryan and Gil Clancy.
